Adel Luzuriaga
President
Adel Luzuriaga serves as the 2007-08 president of the Character and Ethics Project. She is a 35-year resident and active civic volunteer in the Glendale community. She also serves on the board of the American Red Cross Glendale Chapter, the Foothill Apartment Owners Association and is an active member of both Kiwanis Club of Glendale and the Fil-Am Kiwanis Club of Glendale. She is an enthusiastic member and past president of the Glendale Executive Toastmasters Club. She has also served as District Chairperson for the Verdugo Hills Council Boy Scouts of America (VHBSA), which honored her with recognition as a VHBSA Distinguished Citizen Award recipient.
Adel entered the real estate business in 1975, determined to attain financial independence. She holds the CCIM designation (Certified Commercial-Investment Member), a prestigious title awarded to commercial investment specialists who draw from market experience and advanced education to help clients analyze and meet investment objectives. She served as 1991 President of the Glendale Association of Realtors, and a recipient of the "Realtor of the Year" award. She is also a noteworthy past president of the Women's Council of Realtors.
Ms. Luzuriaga is the founder and CEO of start-up nextBlock.com, an online directory which aims to capture the "unique flavor" of each community through their local offerings. The website provides an affordable and user-friendly means for small businesses to list their business, products and services online - so customers can find local neighborhood stores, restaurants and services. nextBlock.com is not an e-commerce site and does not sell directly to consumers.
A few years before she immigrated to the US from the Philippines, Adel resided in Madrid, Spain to learn the Spanish culture and language. Her various interests include travel, tennis, skiing, dancing, reading, metaphysical studies, and thoroughbred racehorses. Adel is a four-time finisher of the LA Marathon.
